It’s been a big week for Beyond Soccer with the FIFA @glblctzn Education Fund announcement, and we’re feeling incredibly grateful and motivated.

But moments like this are also a reminder of why we started.

We began with just 12 girls.

Last weekend, our high school girls travel team picked up a great win and had some extra fans in the stands. With a few extra seats in the van, our Director of Soccer Development invited our Grade 7 and 8 Wolverines to come watch and cheer them on.

A handful of girls joined and got to see what’s possible through this program and the leaders ahead of them.

That’s what this has always been about.

Today, the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund awarded grants to its first group of community-based organizations providing children with access to quality education and sports — and we are happy to share that Beyond Soccer is one of those grantees!

Today we're celebrating all the moms, stepmoms, mother figures, and caregivers who make a difference in the lives of young people every day.

A huge shoutout to Coach Mentor Melissa for starting what we hope becomes a new tradition: making sure every travel player had a rose to give to someone special. And to Coach Mentor Donovan, who went the extra mile and personally delivered roses after his game was rained out, so his Grade 6 Lions squad could still take part.

To everyone who shows up with love, guidance, and support, Happy Mother's Day!

#FocusOnCoachingFriday 🧠

Impact Coordinator Declan attended yesterday's Most Valuable Coach (MVC) event in Boston hosted by @chjsorg in partnership with @dicksfoundation and @getgamechanger.

MVC is a coaching framework rooted in brain science that helps coaches build stronger relationships with young athletes ...because supportive coaching keeps kids in the game.

And during Mental Health Awareness Month, this reminder feels especially important: "Sport, done right, is one of the most powerful mental health interventions we have." - CHJS

Declan is bringing these lessons back to #BeyondSoccer, and we’re also proud to be doing this with other members of the @lawrencesportsalliance.

The behind-the-scenes work doesn't stop. Over the past few weeks, the team has been organizing storage, consolidating equipment, and getting donated gear where it actually belongs, to kids who deserve it.

Every jersey, cleat and ball that goes out the door is another kid who gets to play. It's that simple.

Plus, one of our Grade 8 Wolverines got to experience history-in-the-making at Gillette Stadium with her mom by her side. On Boston Sports Night, the @bostonlegacyfc secured their first-ever win, a thrilling 3-2 comeback over Denver Summit FC in front of 12,524 fans. She stayed after the match and got her jersey signed by a handful of players. Moments like these are exactly why we champion #girlsinsports. So happy for this soccer player and fan, and thanks to Legacy FC for coordinating the tickets!💚🩷

It’s the final stretch before finals and graduation, and we’re especially grateful for this amazing cohort of Merrimack College mentors...many student-athletes who continue to show up in a big way.

Academic Overtime is the program… but mentorship is what really shines.

A recent highlight? Seeing mentors step onto the field to help with registrations and connect with the same students they support academically. That full-circle moment says it all.

Excited to keep building this work and growing our college partnerships in the off season.

One busy (and awesome) sign at Beyond Soccer is kids playing here, there, and everywhere across Essex County… and most importantly, repping Lawrence every step of the way!

From game days to team bonding, it’s all part of the experience. We even had players enjoy a bowling outing after their match 🎳 (thanks Coach Mentor Katherine!), and another team rode together to Woburn in the new Beyond Soccer van 🚐, driven by Impact Coordinator Declan, who also leads the Gr 8 Thunder team.

Because we know transportation can be challenging for families, especially on longer road trips, we love making it a little easier (and a lot more fun).

A handful of Jr. Coaches and youth mentors circled up with our 4th-grade rec players—leading, guiding, and high-fiving them. This is what it looks like when leadership is learned by doing.

What makes it even more powerful? Every older female in this group is part of our Resilient Girls program...and they’re showing up for younger players this fall 💫. The pipeline is real, and it’s growing 📈.

What better way to highlight it than this moment from our in-school program at the Guilmette School... students getting after it with some fast footwork through the agility ladder! 👣

But it's more than just speed and skills. What we love most? How student-athletes stop to fix the ladder for the next person in line, making sure their teammates are set up to succeed. And of course, Soccer Director Chris is right there bringing the energy and encouragement every "step" of the way 🙌

#TeamBondingThursday - After their Essex County league game last Sunday, our high school girls' travel team (the Panthers) kept the momentum going off the field with time together at a local restaurant.

It feels so good to create spaces for players to connect beyond the game, build relationships, and just enjoy being a team.

And honestly, it’s a win-win-win. Our players won their game, strengthened their bonds, and we supported a local business that’s also all-in for youth sports! @teos.tacos 🌮

And they’re off… Spring is here, and now everybody’s playing. ⚽️

Our in-city recreational league officially kicked off yesterday for 1st–4th graders, and we’ll be rolling all week @riverwalkpavilion and the Greater Lawrence Technical School fields, with 5th grade and up starting today. Pre-K and Kindergarten get going on Saturday (always a favorite).

The energy is already high, and again, this is just the start.

One of our jr coaches captured these moments… and we’ll take sun peeking through the clouds and soccer any day of the week. 🌤 Grateful for everyone who makes this possible. This is what access to play looks like.

And just like that, the fields are full again with Essex County Youth Soccer travel games.

One moment that stood out this week was a young player stepping up in front of his team, the opposing team, and all the families on the sidelines to read a statement about respect in the game. Respect for players, coaches, referees, and the game itself.

He needed a little help from the referee, but he did it, and while some teammates were still finding their focus 🙂 that is part of it. This is a young group, and this is what learning and leadership look like.

From reconnecting with familiar faces to meeting new ones, the energy in the room was real. Powerful stories from speakers across different walks of life reminded us just how many people are out there doing incredible things to uplift others.

Great food, music, and dancing helped, too!

#TrackTheProgressTuesday - And we’re off! The season is underway, and yes… that means it’s time for PACER testing again 💪

Why do we do it? Because over the course of our 12-week season, we get to track real growth...not just in skill, but in fitness, endurance, and confidence.

And we continue to partner with Boston Children’s Hospital #fitkit team through @nbgivesback who work closely with us to support this tracking and testing and to help us better understand and elevate the health of our athletes.

A #FirstCohortFriday post, and it's a shoutout to three of our junior coaches who truly went above and beyond in our inaugural offseason Junior Coach Mentor program.

These aren’t just participants, they’re trailblazers, setting the tone for what this program can become.

In true #BeyondSoccer fashion, we made sure these young leaders earned their first paycheck (stipend!) and, of course, a @NewBalance gift cert from our committed partner, before they get the chance to step into expanded summer roles (applications and interviews still a must). Again, leadership isn’t taught, it’s experienced.

We’ve also got a feeling this crew will be invovled, a lot, this spring, as many more players hit the field.

Lawrence Youth Soccer’s spring season is officially underway, and we’re loving everything about it. The Ayer Mill Clock Tower in the background, the sunset overhead…it’s a reminder of how special these evenings are 🌆

It also reminds us just how important it is to have quality fields... and with lights, too (More to come, stay tuned on the field front!) Because when you can extend play, you extend opportunity. This particular group is out here getting training from 7:30–9:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays @riverwalkpavilion through June!

As you know, we’re all about ensuring every kid has access to ⚽, plus opportunities beyond-the-field. One area we’re continuing to push: increasing the number of girls playing.

Huge shoutout to the collaborative #ChampionHerGame team in Lawrence for bringing in the Revolution Acadmey—an experience that inspired so many of our players @riverwalkpavilion 🧡💙

And yesterday, @thebostondream led a clinic for our girls, followed by a matchup vs. the SNHU Women’s Team that our players got to watch and learn from. It ended in a hard-fought tie, but brought connection, competition, and powerful girls-in-sports energy 💪
