#MeaningfulMonday – Today, after coming off a busy weekend of Volleyond’ing, we’re reminded of the importance of our community connections and partnerships.

One of our favorite partners is the @mvymca. They deserve a big shoutout for once again coming through for our programs & kids with camp scholarships. Can’t you tell these 3 📷here enjoyed their Camp Otter experience? Next up, a cohort of 10 middle school boys will form #meaningful connections during their 2-week Camp Lawrence overnight adventure next week. Now, that’s another first happening for kids in the community thanks to partnerships! Don't forget we're also starting a @TOPSoccer for kids with disabilities with the YMCA this fall! Most witnessed so many engaged parks, programs, and kids in action all over the City, including gameplay by #BeyondVolley’s most experienced players in the Open Category of Volleybond Weekend! These girls can play, and they've got ups, competing against a dozen teams in their new #NewBalance uniforms! Our #BeyondSoccer H.S. cohort also got to play at the beautiful Kane Park to prep for their upcoming fall seasons.

#FeelingGoodFriday about our kids and our community. Today is Day 1 of the “Volleybond” experience which started with a youth jobs, player, and family-driven park cleanup at O’Connell Park. It’s ongoing today at the S. Common and includes other spaces where we’ve been playing this summer like Kane & SLE. Like everything we do, it’s another #teameffort, with @groundworklawrence & @lawrencedpw providing cleanup supplies, plus extra moral support, and high fives from our friends @lawrencepolicema and @ydolawrence during their Friday field day. Remember we have 2 more days of Volleybond’ing with competitive tourney action, family play, bouncy houses, music, & more! #TeamworkThursday - How are we keeping up this summer? It's because of teens like Diaralis & Kiana, who, thanks to our incredible youth jobs partners, make sure hundreds of youth benefit from sports and wellness programs in July & August. Here they are planning and prepping for the big Volleybond Weekend event that kicks off tomorrow w/a park heroes' day.

Here's what Kiana has to say about her youth jobs experience so far. "Working and training as a coach mentor with Beyond Volley is one of the best things that had ever happened to me. I am learning new and amazing skills that will help benefit me in the future. I have also seen a change in not only my professionalism but my spirit. I am excited to see what's to come at work, and I love the work environment. #MassYouthMonday! Here’s a trio of Beyond Soccer female athletes who've been part of Lawrence Youth Travel for many years. They’re participating @mayouthsoccer's District Select Program which “provides a pressure free, yet competitive soccer environment in which players can focus entirely on their development.” This opportunity allows us to expand pathways for our youth to further develop their sports skills and interests. It hasn’t been easy since COVID-19 disrupted #play, but it's great to see our girls back in a uniform, competing--and believe us, they can play! One of the best parts about this opportunity, is that in addition to strengthening community partnerships and getting more girls playing & moving, it’s staffed by two amazing female Coach Mentors, Oriagna Inirio & Patricia Inirio who grew up in our programs and credit sports for so much of their college and early career successes. Also, Patricia is a proud Esperanza alumni. How special is that for all involved. #FridayFeelings- It’s a wrap for now! More than 175 youth came out for 8 days of sport and wellness activities. Lots of play yesterday on a picture-perfect day for sports, plus important messages and interactive story time by Raquel Quezada, author, and founder of non-profit CEMDPCD, focused on empowering parents & kids with disabilities. She reminded campers and coach-mentors of the importance of standing up to bullies and that ALL children are superheroes. Lots got “bear hugs,” left wearing “hero” capes, plus feelings of connection, camaraderie and CAN-do attitudes. So many people to thank over the next few weeks! #YouthSports #HealthyKids #HappyKids #Play #Move #Run #Laugh #Partner #MakeMemories #BeyondVolley #BeyondSoccer #LawrenceMA 🏐⚽💙🧡🐻🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

As most know, fitness is part of everything that we do and when we couple that with fire safety, firetruck tours and a visit with our incredibly brave and committed Lawrence Firefighters, we call it a #winwin! Our friends from the @lawrencepolicema visited today (Day 2). They spent time with the groups sharing, answering questions, handing out stickers, and even judging a juggling contest. Their ice cream truck visit during snack time was also a #welcome surprise for campers who got to take a break from their sports and movement activities. The LPD has been a great partner, building community relationships and making kids smile. In true summer 2021 fashion, we got rained on. But that didn’t seem to slow down the campers or their enthusiasm for being together, playing sports (which now means volleyball!), and making new friends! It’s a #FeelGoodFriday as we finish up our first week in the schools and head into the July 4th weekend! This summer, we’re working with the Community Group through its Latchkey Enrichment and 21st Century programs, bringing volleyball, futsal, fitness, team building, and mentorship to Lawrence Public School children in 7 different schools every day of the week. We couldn’t be happier. "The Early Bird Catches the Worm!" Despite being up early, we're having a hard time keeping up, but all for good reason. Here are recently onboarded youth hires, Ayesha, Declan, and Aileen off for an early in-person training with Director of Soccer Development, Chris in Ipswich. They're also 📷 with him, with smiles, upon arrival.

This week has also included onboarding 30 youth, ages 14-18, on Tuesday & Wednesday. We've got fast approaching ⚽ & 🏐 camps and a first-ever Volleybond event to prep for, plus our nightly futsal and high school soccer league programs. For many years, the #MassHire team has provided youth jobs support and training for young people in organizations like ours. The staff and new 🏐 hires worked together to complete all their necessary paperwork to get them going next week for their official onboarding! #WeCouldNotBeHappierWednesday for this opportunity that's the byproduct of good people caring about girls' access to sports! Sadie will run the Boston Marathon as part of the @dreambigcharity Boston Marathon Team.

Sadie, a long-time @ff_summerinterns has also become an integral and inspiring part of our #Beyond team. She's captured our hearts and impacted so many Lawrence female participants, on and off the field & courts. Sadie, an avid runner, will now run her first Boston Marathon this fall. She's ramping up her training while raising money and awareness about the #DreamBig and importance of girls from lower-income situations, getting access to quality equipment, uniforms, training costs, and college showcase experiences. There aren't enough good things to say about Sadie or DreamBig!. Both have changed the trajectory of our organization's impact and reach. #TakeChargeTuesday - What a great, unexpected start to Summer 2021! We didn’t do much planning. But, Chris, our Director of Soccer Development, was adamant. He didn’t want to slow down the kids’ springtime progress, and the result was lots of quality play and connection through our new pickup #Futsal @the Common Park league!! You may recall that we were first introduced to Chris through Essex County Youth Futsal League that ran at the indoor Sports HUB at IndusPAD, pre-COVID. Last night was a great first showing at the City's new multi-purpose courts. Our #CoachMentors and youth hires will be at the courts Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings all summer. Our friends from the @lawrencepolicema visited today (Day 2). They spent time with the groups sharing, answering questions, handing out stickers, and even judging a juggling contest. Their ice cream truck visit during snack time was also a #welcome surprise for campers who got to take a break from their sports and movement activities. In true summer 2021 fashion, we got rained on. But that didn’t seem to slow down the campers or their enthusiasm for being together, playing sports (which now means volleyball!), and making new friends! We look forward to getting everyone back together tomorrow and welcoming more participants and partners. It’s a #FeelGoodFriday as we finish up our first week in the schools and head into the July 4th weekend! This summer, we’re working with the Community Group through its Latchkey Enrichment and 21st Century programs, bringing volleyball, futsal, fitness, team building, and mentorship to Lawrence Public School children in 7 different schools every day of the week. We couldn’t be happier. "The Early Bird Catches the Worm!" Despite being up early, we're having a hard time keeping up, but all for good reason. Here are recently onboarded youth hires, Ayesha, Declan, and Aileen off for an early in-person training with Director of Soccer Development, Chris in Ipswich. They're also 📷 with him, with smiles, upon arrival.

This week has also included onboarding 30 youth, ages 14-18, on Tuesday & Wednesday. We've got fast approaching ⚽ & 🏐 camps and a first-ever Volleybond event to prep for, plus our nightly futsal and high school soccer league programs. For many years, the #MassHire team has provided youth jobs support and training for young people in organizations like ours. The staff and new 🏐 hires worked together to complete all their necessary paperwork to get them going next week for their official onboarding! #WeCouldNotBeHappierWednesday for this opportunity that's the byproduct of good people caring about girls' access to sports! Sadie will run the Boston Marathon as part of the @dreambigcharity Boston Marathon Team.

Sadie, a long-time @ff_summerinterns has also become an integral and inspiring part of our #Beyond team. She's captured our hearts and impacted so many Lawrence female participants, on and off the field & courts. Sadie, an avid runner, will now run her first Boston Marathon this fall. She's ramping up her training while raising money and awareness about the #DreamBig and importance of girls from lower-income situations, getting access to quality equipment, uniforms, training costs, and college showcase experiences. There aren't enough good things to say about Sadie or DreamBig!. Both have changed the trajectory of our organization's impact and reach. #TakeChargeTuesday - What a great, unexpected start to Summer 2021! We didn’t do much planning. But, Chris, our Director of Soccer Development, was adamant. He didn’t want to slow down the kids’ springtime progress, and the result was lots of quality play and connection through our new pickup #Futsal @the Common Park league!! You may recall that we were first introduced to Chris through Essex County Youth Futsal League that ran at the indoor Sports HUB at IndusPAD, pre-COVID. Last night was a great first showing at the City's new multi-purpose courts. Our #CoachMentors and youth hires will be at the courts Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings all summer.
