#Meet-A-MentorMonday! We've got many #committed #CoachMentors, but we're highlighting Eder, who we can't believe has been part of #Beyond for 7 years and is only now getting on the coaching sideline. We wish that happened sooner.😊

As you can see from this #circleup with the Gr. 5/6 Jaguars, he's #Allin for youth sports, and together with his wife, --& high school sweetheart--are also #Allin for girls-in-sports, with 3 daughters, 2 of whom play. In his new role, he wants to support their continued positive involvement and other female players in sports. A #FlashbackFriday share of some of this week's on-and-off-the-field activities, including a great group 📸 of the 1st & 2nd graders with their parents @ Pavilion, some other fun team #shots celebrating more "Captain" award recognitions, a great overlapping drill @ Kane Field where you can hear Soccer Director Chris providing some priceless feedback that's always encouraging and constructive. After organizing a bunch of game-day equipment, two up-and-coming #CoachMentors are now lining Kane Field (yes, we wish there was a bit more grass!) to support all-day games from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. tomorrow. It’s #WellnessWednedsey, and we feel extra motiv

It’s #WellnessWednedsey, and we feel extra motivated after wrapping up an a.m. Mayor's Health Task Force of Lawrence Healthy Active Living Workgroup call. It reminded us that we have some positive data to report and continue to support this fiscal year, thanks to our partners, including @nbgivesback and Boston Children’s Hospital (#BCH’s) #FITKit team.

This month, BCH presented our 2022/23 data assessment. Overall, it was positive, with most year-round players tracking in the Healthy Fitness Zones (#HFZ) at all 4 test points, with average annual HFZ increases of 22.0 % points. Also, overall HFZ scores increased by 64.7 % points in the fall and 8.9 % points in the spring for all players. As you can see from these 📷's, we’re off, or rather, our kids are off to the races 😊 this fall, completing #PACER and getting in some good fitness so we can capture their initial 2023/24 HFZ and ensure kids of all ages and fitness levels make gains. #youthsports #healthykids #happykids #healthyfamilies #healthycommunities #partnerships #collaboration #yearroundplay #fitness #connection #LawrenceMA #BeyondSoccer ⚽🧡💙

It’s a #MotivatingMonday when our sports neighbors reach out to support their soccer community. Following a tough fall weather start that damaged multiple goals, our board president received an email from Andover Soccer Association, sharing that #ASA had several goals in good condition they were looking to donate! Well, “several” was an understatement! Take a look! As folks know, goals are expensive. Having access to more small-sided 🥅s is especially beneficial to our developing in-city league, allowing for more small-aside fields for more kids of all ages.

In true #BeyondSoccer fashion, a group of teen leaders, Angel, David, Donovan, and Issandel, dedicated their Friday morning to the ASA equipment pick up, transport, and drop off. #TY. #SundaySoccerShare –It was another rainy one. Yet we managed to get 90% of our activities in! Here are the Grade 5/6 Jaguars who appear to be the best or most consistent post-game picture takers 😊. The Gr. 8 Strikerz squad led by Coach Dom made a #team 📷 appearance and captured the foggy conditions. Also, a few action 🎥s shared by parents, including a great goal by the Gr. 4 Lioness team. Finally, #CoachMentor Issandel, who hasn't missed any chance to provide extra setup help, gives us a👍. He also led the Gr. 5/6 Rebels to a 3-3 tie against North Reading. #FlashbackFriday to some of the behind-the-scenes work required to support the almost 400 elementary & middle schoolers playing this season through Lawrence Youth Soccer!

Of course, in true #BeyondSoccer fashion, everything we’ve ever done and continue to do gets former or current players involved to prepare and lead our #onthefield efforts. That includes anything from cleat sorting, office/enrichment space cleaning, equipment organizing, etc. As you can see, #hardwork also requires some break time for food and solid catchup.

#WinningWednesday! Yesterday’s share by #CoachMentor Eder was so fitting on a day we learned that women’s professional soccer is coming (back) to Boston! It’s a significant opportunity, a big #teameffort investment, and a must for our younger females.

Thanks to Eder, Jaguars players are learning the values of teamwork, showing up with can-do attitudes, and finding ways to motivate those around them, all attributes of the women who made #NWSLBoston a reality. Two girls each week--starting with these players👏--will be selected for their hard work as weekend captains. They will lead the pre-game stretches, be those vocal, positive leaders on and off the field, and call the coin toss! #TY, Coach, for your reinforcement and those captain bands. It’s finally a #SoccerSaturday, which was no guarantee with Hurricane Lee. We had our fingers (& toes) triple crossed 🤞as Lawrence Youth Soccer’s fall opener got sidelined last weekend because of the powerful storms that hit the MV. That finger-crossing worked! #SundaySharingIsCaring –Today’s recap isn’t full of what we thought would be Lawrence Youth Soccer fall opener 📸s. We canceled all games due to the recent storm ⛈ that hit our City hard. So many lost power, with lots of downed trees and a lost soccer goal! Yes, that’s one of our 🥅 at John P. Kane Park, crushed by a🌳!

Thankfully, all are safe, but some are still without power. We’re grateful to our fams, our Essex County Youth Soccer league friends for understanding, and the @lawrencedpw 's #hardwork cleanup efforts that continue. #FantasticFunderFriday share! We can barely hold back our excitement! Thanks to the #underscore incredible support from #CumminsFoundation and its Make a Difference Dollars (MAD$) program, all 18 cubicles in our #AcademicOvertime space are now outfitted with computers & printers plus tech support (for 12 months) to help players refocus #offthefield too! We're incredibly grateful to Cummings' volunteers, Jeff & Albert, who really got to know us, including the stuff that needs improvement. They helped make this a reality.

Logic Networks and its founder, Neurys Balbi, from Lawrence, handled 100% of the upgrades and infrastructure, so we’re now moving fast…in many directions. 😊🖥🖨 In addition to keeping things local, this will allow Academic Enrichment Coordinator Will Inirio (📷'd here) to connect more players with tutors through a Merrimack College partnership, plus some loyal retired teachers!

#TBT to a wild week as we place almost 400 kids in programs and teams and start one part of Lawrence Youth Soccer on Saturday.

This #throwbackk 📸 was fittingly shared by a player in the high school Whats App group, giving a shoutout to their early days (circa 2018?). We’re pretty confident that everyone is still involved, with most heading off to college or their H.S. Sr. or Jr. year, like twins Luiz & Angel, who were summer #CoachMentors. There’s Randy, who plays at LHS, and Emerson, who played last year. Also, David, Joel, plus Noe, who plays at Brooks, and Issandel, who now leads our Gr. 6 Rebels this fall while attending college. We could go on about each one, but mainly, this share was a reminder, after a few player LOLs, of why we do what we do and the loyalty and friendships that evolve from those efforts. Well, it still ended up being off for FT staffers because this was organized entirely by a group of #CoachMentors. They learned that the turf field was available and the weather forecast too bright not to bring kids together for some #play. It was a scrimmage-only day for anyone registered this Fall, grades 3+. It makes us step back and pause during these busy times (i.e., closing summer on Saturday and starting Lawrence Youth Soccer for Gr. 3-8 on Monday). It also meant 115 new players registered over the last 10 days alone, making us confident that we'll have 500 players involved this season. #WelcomeWednesday! Iris Inirio has already hit the ground running, making immediate, positive impressions as our first Programs & Partnerships Manager!

As a bit of background, Iris has known about us since Day 1, being the aunt of longtime former players and leadership members Ori & William (📸'd here)! Before us, Iris was involved with the incredible nonprofit Lazarus House, helping adults transition into the workplace. Now, it's about different transitions & connections through sports. A big focus is her work connecting families (partners, too) through #FUSE (Families United through Sports Experiences). Today, she's already recruited 30 parent volunteers to assist this fall after getting some help from a handful of initial go-to ⚽moms. We can definitely say we're more excited about our future with Iris on the #team.
