In true #BeyondSoccer fashion, our team has a one-day break between our off-season shifting 😊 to spring outdoor soccer or the kickoff of Lawrence Youth Soccer. #WellnessWedneday –To move the needle when it comes to improving the health of our community, it must be a team effort. At the Arlington School (📷's from yesterday’s futsal), we are not the only ones bringing sports to kids where they are.

Groups like Serving Stars, Everyone's A Player (teaching🎾to 50 kids), plus a handful of baseball/softball leaders ⚾️🥎 (part of Lawrence Sports Alliance) are focused on increasing participation, especially for girls, through more #sportssampling. Yes, we give each other high fives🤚, but it does not stop there. Much more work must be done to continue fueling those sports interests #beyond school walls through more low-cost, accessible play.

We can't quite distinguish what this Kindergarten group shouted after their futsal session-ending circle-up 😊, but we can tell they had another fun and engaging #SoccerSaturday with lots of play. We also love seeing long-time #CoachMentors Melissa & William, with high school seniors Andrea and Ayesha from Lawrence, on the court, leading the charge and ensuring we have great player-coach ratios! That’s key, especially with these young age groups.

It also means we’re busy forming teams, securing fields, and communicating with families while maintaining our current winter futsal, in-school, off-the-field fitness, and Academic Overtime programs. Thankfully, our #CoachMentors continue to step up, so we will be #GTG for the relaunch (for travel players, the week of March 27th and April 10th for city league players)

#SaturdayShare-Before today’s busy futsal, we hosted a #USSoccer Grassroots 9v9 course in Lawrence. @mayouthsoccer Tommy G. led the course for a great group, including a handful of our #CoachMentors-Director Chris, too.

This 2-part series ties into efforts to ensure those leading young people have more tools to be influential leaders, mentors & teachers. Chris shared that reminders to present questions that aren’t designed to get immediate answers but create more chances for youth to work through solutions resonated. Coaches shouldn't just provide answers but provide positive, consistent platforms for interactive learning and self-discovery through sports. #WinningWednesday “Turning my dreams into reality, and I know it didn’t turn out to be soccer, but I grew and learned so much from it and the #BeyondSoccer family, and I just wanted to thank you for the support from the start.” -K

The ⬆️text we received from alum Katherine, w/this @emmanuelcollege highlight of her efforts, earning “The Smile Architect” w/ambitions to put her dental skills to use through travel & continuing her education in the Tufts mentorship program.

As shared, Katherine joined our 2014 Her'rricanes team. Now a college senior, she returned as a summer #CoachMentor. Her ability to positively influence younger players was obvious and resulted in her leading the Gr. 8 Wolverines last fall. Katherine earned her coaching stipend while working PT in the dental office, staying committed to her classes while serving as an RA (see📷's). Her involvement epitomizes our engagement strategy. It’s a #gamechanger & Katherine is now #gamechanging! 🧡💙⚽️

We’re back #TogetherThursday in the Arlington Schools after school vacation week, and a Tuesday snowstorm ❄️ disrupted our program plans! This is a great school community with wonderful leaders who embrace the importance and power of sports, especially their positive influence on academics. In addition to our twice-weekly futsal sessions, other sports partners like #ServingStars provide tennis. Softball was just added too. We’re feeling #MondayMotivated after a busy weekend of activity and want to harness the energy of this Grade 6 Bulldogs group from their weekend futsal session. #CoachMentor Daria said it was a great, high-energy session, extending the practice time by an extra hour. The Grade 5 & 6 girls now play from 4-6 pm!
