#MondayMemories from another busy weekend! Most league-away games happened Saturday. The Gr 5 Bulldogs competed in Wilmington, Gr 4 Lioness in Woburn, Gr 6 Thunder in Andover, and Gr 5 Rebels in Beverly. The Gr. 8 Strikerz also played the only home game because it was on the reliable Pavillion turf. Sunday represented another first, with @thebostondream organizing an #Allin for women and #girlsinsports day, including soccer training with @mc_womens_soccer and a #BostonDream leadership session. The girls then cheered on players, including #MC keeper & #CoachMentor, Roo, in a competitive Boston Dream v. MC matchup! A #TeamworkThursday share of the Gr. 3 Eagles' solid #team performance in Wilmington with their #CoachMentors, Kevin and David, of Lawrence. This squad was part of a committed in-city group last fall, developing their skills. Their efforts now mean traveling in the Essex County Youth Soccer League. It's also extra impactful when young adult leaders #lead them. #TakeMeBackTuesday to an unbelievable day in Boston for the 128th running of the Boston Marathon. It was full of so much determination, love, and connection. Some #BeyondSoccer leaders, with their close sports pals, watched runners make a final turn before the finish line @greghillfoundation Marathon celebration @ the Capital Grill. We were especially partial to cheering on long-time #Beyond #CoachMentor, former Forest Foundation Intern, now rockstar middle school ESL teacher Sadie Farnsworth, who's also part of our Resilient Girls Project with the Women's Fund of Essex County. Sadie finished strong! Talk about resilience and leading by example! It's a #TerrificTuesday post after yesterday's incredible eclipse 🌘 and the kickoff of full practice for both in-city and travel ⚽️ players @riverwalkpavilion.

To say the field was packed and energized from 5-9pm is a complete understatement. It was an all-hands-on deck approach, per usual, with so many Jr. coaches coming in early to help with equipment and an office cleanup for special guests @senpavelpayano and @reyesforstaterep. Our #FUSE parents and #CoachMentors, at least 25 strong including many former players, led the kids, making it a great #teameffort #youthsports #healthykids #happykids #healthyfamilies #healthycommunities #yearroundplay #Allin #LawrenceMA #BeyondSoccer ⚽️🧡💙

It's a staggered #SpringSoccerStart. Still, it's a start, and this Gr. 8 Strikerz squad, 📸'd post-matchup, makes us proud, opening up another #Lawrence season with their away game--on turf--in Saugus. Like many communities, our home grass field was closed due to recent challenging weather and because it's a challenging grass field. Thanks, #CoachMentor Dominic, who's probably in his 10th year with us (not season!). Soccer Director Chris also made the trip, together with Johnny, our Operations Manager--a busy referee, too! It was a close 2-1 loss with lots of back and forth. It's a #TeamEffortTuesday when our #CoachMentors organize and track player PACER scores. Spring & fall soccer now #kickoff consistently with PACER. Our #team and players are getting more excited about tracking baseline measures of aerobic fitness levels and working hard during the 10+ week seasons to maintain or improve those levels. Thanks to a great partnership with the @bostonchildrens #FitKit #team and the #NewBalance Foundation, those Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ) scores (pre & post-season) are reviewed and evaluated. #FlashbackFriday to this week's interactive #CoachMentor meeting led by ⚽Director Chris to prep for the upcoming spring season. More than 350 youth are already registered (& growing daily) so the #team took extra time to review player & coach expectations, like reinforcing Get R.E.A.L., the importance of collecting report cards, organizing outings, incorporating teambuilders, learnings from the The Center for Healing and Justice through Sport, & more! Long-time #CoachMentor Adam led one of those teambuilders. If this crew doesn't think it’s engaging, it won't work for the youth :) Of course, they had some food, too, which helps them be a united front when things gets going (after futsal ends Sunday!) #GoTeam!

It's a #WinningWednesday when you walk into the enrichment space and hear cubicles full of @merrimackcollege students and #BeyondSoccer seniors providing one-on-one homework help. It's been neat watching this program evolve under @winirio13's leadership to include more #BeyondSoccer student-athletes with solid GPAs like Noe (📷'd here in the first shot). He's a tremendous student-athlete at Pingree School who's getting more involved as the # of kids wanting extra classroom help grows. It's also part of Will's vision to ensure this support continues through the busy spring & summer seasons, even during college break when #MC students are unavailable.

#SettingRecordsSaturday - We're already 8 hours into our 16th #SoccerSaturday at the YWCA, with a few more hours left, including high school play until 9pm.

⚽️ Director Chris said he "can't believe there's just one weekend remaining of indoor futsal before we head outdoors." He also thanked our crew of #coachmentors for this record-breaking winter season. It's meant over 90 new players and 374 hours of weekend futsal already sponsored. Here's a lineup of Gr. 4 & 5 players representing one of the many afternoon skill work and scrimmaging sessions setting those records. It's a #SpecialSundayShare about a #special event organized by some incredibly #special people and parents through #FUSE, including Partnership Manager Iris, who kept saying it's time for #BeyondSoccer to host a community get-together. She was right, along w/FUSE leader Cesy, who spearheaded this 1st family celebration (post-pandemic).

It brought 300 folks together – yes, 300!—for food and festivity, with so many families contributing. The "Get R.E.A.L. bracelet awards were also unveiled, recognizing players in each age group for showing consistent Respect—Effort—Attendance-- Leadership characteristics. The #special stories ⚽ Director Chris told (thanks to our team of #CoachMentors) about those recognized young people were moving and personal. They show up early to help, consistently encourage others, and volunteer time to lead the little ones. Sure, the weather wasn’t super cooperative, but that didn’t stop hundreds of kids from coming out, including this Grade 4 player who showed up early and helped ⚽ Director Chris with the setup! We also love seeing the Academic #Overtime participants continue to come in for weekly tutoring, plus more indoor fitness, foot skills, and futsal.
